Each level is a miniature chessboard, where the snake must eat all the chilis and find its way down the escape hole. It sounds simple, but:

The chilis don't stand still – if you hit them, they slide, if you don't block them, they disappear!

Each chili has a reaction – after eating, the snake is pushed back like it's "reacting", which upsets the strategy.
